The six wines produced by Kathy Lynskey and Kent Casto each consists of a 100% single grape varietal. The range includes Pinot Noir (clones 5, 115, 667 and 777), Merlot, Chardonnay (mendoza clone), Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.
Vines are closely managed by Kathy and Kent to ensure the grapes achieve an optimum balance of flavour and ripeness each year. Their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris grapes are cropped low and handpicked in order to give the best flavours for the wine styles they seek to make. Kathy and Kent's contract growers, who supply Single Vineyard Pinot Gris and additional Sauvignon Blanc, have readily embraced the Kathy Lynskey winemaking philosophy. Their conscientious and consistent efforts in their own vineyards has resulted in Kathy Lynskey Wines regularly receiving gold medals, trohpies and high accolades for its wines, particularly in the USA, its main export market.
The Reserve Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are aged in premium French oak barrels for nearly 12 months, while the 15 Rows Reserve Merlot is aged in a combination of American and French oak for up to 19 months. All of the wines created by Kathy Lynskey Wines are made to improve with correct cellaring.
